The First Educare Center with a Marine-themed Curriculum Is Now Enrolling and Expected to Start in Mid-August

  • PostDate:2022-11-08

The Fisheries Research Institute will open in August on Heping Island, Keelung, using an aquarium as the design concept. The Institute will also include an educare center offering workplace support services that integrate local community resource development plans. This is the first educare center to be opened by the Council of Agriculture in support of Executive Yuan’s “Comprehensive Care for 0-6 years old” policy.

Chun-Ru Chen, Director of the Fisheries Research Institute, stated the opening of the educare center can not only meet the childcare needs of the staff and citizens in the neighboring communities but also let local residents understand the Fisheries Research Institute better. In this way, the Fisheries Research Institute can do its part for the community. Chen-Hsia Lin, chairman of the Down Syndrome Foundation, was appointed to run the educare center. Chen-Hsia Lin stated that in the future, special thematic courses will be developed using the ocean as the main axis, which is closest to the life experience of young students.

The Fisheries Research Institute educational resource center will be open for registration from now until July 19, 2022. It is expected to enroll 29 young students from the age of two to before their entering of elementary schools. Classes will start in mid-August, and only NTD 2,000 will be charged each month. Except for the insurance premium and the one-time school supplies fee, most of the fees will be subsidized by the government.
