This is a preliminary report of ecological researches on a stocked population of eel Anguilla japonica in the river to get fundamental information on eel population processes. We marked 7977 eels by clipping the right pectoral fin and released them in the River Monobe, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, at 19th May 2000.
