The anchovy larval net was introduced to Taiwan in 1977. Due to the smallmesh size and the highly fishing efficient, the larvae and juveniles of anchovyand many other demersal fishes were caught in a great amount. As a result, manyproblems of coastal water fisheries were arised.
The following measures are suggested to solve the engraulid Larval fisheriesproblem: (1) to reduction effort, the number of larval anchovy net, (2) to limitthe amount of total catch, fish size and fishing season, (3) to organize theproduction and market groups amoung fishermen, (4) to set up a license system offishing, and (5) to manage the stock.
