Inaugural Cross-sector Collaboration Engaging Students in Fisheries Technology Development: A Joint Initiative of the Fisheries Research Institute, National Taiwan Ocean University, and the Keelung District Court and Prosecutors Office
To promote integrity, honesty, and character education, the Fisheries Research Institute, in collaboration with National Taiwan Ocean University and the Keelung District Court and Prosecutors Office, organized a character education event centered on the theme of green energy integrity. Through a tripartite cross-sector cooperation model, the event—titled “Cleanliness and Integrity, Like Fish in Water- Being Clean and Honest”—was held on April 30, 2025 in the International Conference Hall on the 7th floor of the Institute. The event was chaired by Deputy Director Hsin-Ming Yeh and featured several distinguished guests, including Vice President Fan-Hua Ran of National Taiwan Ocean University, Chief Prosecutor Yi-Fen Ko of the Keelung District Court and Prosecutors Office, and Deputy Director Ming-Hong Hung of the Department of Ethics, Ministry of Agriculture. Faculty members and students from the Department of Aquaculture at National Taiwan Ocean University, totaling 92 participants, were also invited.
The Fisheries Research Institute explained that, in addition to inviting Chief Prosecutor Sheng Huang from the Keelung District Court and Prosecutors Office to present on “cases and patterns related to obstruction of the green energy industry,” the program also featured a presentation by Associate Researcher Chia-Hsuan Sung from the Institute’s Technical Service Division, who shared practical experience and professional insights on “an overview of the aquaculture–photovoltaic symbiosis pilot incubation base operations.” The agenda further included a screening of an introductory video about the Institute, as well as guided visits to the exhibition room, aquarium, test vessel, and other facilities, to enhance participants’ understanding of national green energy policies and the Institute’s research priorities and development directions. In his remarks, Deputy Director Hsin-Ming Yeh of the Fisheries Research Institute expressed his expectation that the students would benefit substantially from this visit and encouraged them to consider future careers at the Fisheries Research Institute, contributing jointly to fisheries technology innovation and the sustainable development of Taiwan’s fisheries industry.
The Fisheries Research Institute further stated that the event not only served as a practical implementation of character education but also marked a new milestone in cross-sector collaboration among the Institute, National Taiwan Ocean University, and the Keelung District Court and Prosecutors Office. Looking ahead, the Institute plans to continue expanding communication platforms, strengthening collaborative mechanisms, and contributing to the cultivation of a society grounded in integrity and the advancement of sustainable industries.
