Sept. 1974 Establishment of Shinkang working station.
Aug. 1975 Upgraded as Taitung Division of Taiwan Provincial Fisheries Research Institute.
July 1999 In cooperation with the provincial reduction action, the institute was renamed as Taitung Division of Fisheries Research Institute, placed under the council of agriculture, executive Yuan.
Apr. 2002 Apr. 2002 The institute was renamed as Eastern Marine Biology Research Center due to the reorganization of the government.
